The LPGA opens season with Pure Silk Bahamas Classic

Open season

Pure Silk Bahamas Classic was honoured by the LPGA to start the 2014 season in January. After 13 years the LPGA tournament is now scheduled to start tomorrow here at the One and Only Ocean Club Golf Course in the wonderful tropical climate on Paradise Island, The Bahamas. The tournament last year was held in May and was won by Ilhee Lee in an event reduced to 36-hole due to inclement weather, never the less a fabulously exciting one. This is Lee's first LPGA win.  This time around although only in its second year the LPGA has seen it fit to open it's season with this young tournament, possibly because of how well the inaugural event was handled with everyone still having a wonderful time.

This year's event has increased its purse calling out the big fish to have a go at $1.3 million, the Golf Channel will be broadcasting the event live showing of the beauty of the Bahamas with its wonderful sun and sand while the majority of the North is in a chilling situation.

Golf's best

Some of the best in the game registered for the Pure Silk Bahamas Classic include the number 2, 3, and 4th Rolex Ranked LPGA golfers Suzann Pettersen, Stacy Lewis, Lydia Ko and the likes of young Lexi Thompson, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressell, Paula Creamer, Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Michelle Wei and Natalie Gulbis who just celebrated her 31st birthday on January 7.

Sun, sand and sea

The Bahamas will be the host to quite a diverse make up of nationalities including Japan, Sri Lanka, Colombia and Wales. An archipelago made up of more than 700 islands and cays, the Bahamas offers world class opportunities at golf, scuba diving, sailing, fishing along with dining and shopping. With the Bahamian dollar on par with the U. S. dollar it makes it for easier to forget the hassle and enjoy everything or nothing. Close to the actual tournament site is the famous Atlantis Resort with one of the largest aquariums this part of the world and second chances to have a go at luck in the casino.
